Privacy Policy
Effective October 16, 2026
Venny is a free daily word game at playvenny.com. We built it to collect as little as possible. There are no accounts, no ads, and no cookies. We use privacy-friendly analytics that count visits anonymously and do not track you.
What we collect
When you finish a round of the daily puzzle, the game sends your valid answers for that round to our database. We store them only as anonymous tallies (for example, "212 players answered Cardinals"), which power the "% of players" figures on the reveal screen. Your answers are not tied to your name, email, account, or device. Practice games and answers revealed by a hint are not sent.
Anonymous visit counts
We use Vercel Web Analytics to see aggregate numbers such as how many people visit, which pages they open, and roughly which country, device type, and referring site they come from. It does not use cookies and does not follow you across other websites. Visits are told apart with a temporary anonymous hash that Vercel discards after 24 hours and that is not tied to your name or IP address. We use these counts only to understand how Venny is doing and to improve it.
What stays on your device
The game saves your progress, statistics, and settings in your browser's local storage so you can pick up where you left off. This data never leaves your device. We don't use cookies. You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's site data for playvenny.com.
Messages you send us
If you use the contact form, we receive your selected topic and message, plus a name or email address only if you choose to provide them. We use this information to read your feedback, investigate issues, and reply if appropriate. It is sent through Resend to Venny's email inbox, separate from the game's anonymous answer tallies. Please don't include sensitive information.
The form temporarily uses a hashed network address to limit repeated submissions. We don't use it to track your play or build a profile, and it is not included in the email.
Service providers
A few companies help run the site. Like almost any website, they automatically receive technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the time of your visit when your browser connects to them:
- Vercel hosts the site, keeps standard server logs for security and reliability, and provides the anonymous visit counts described above.
- Supabase runs the database that stores the anonymous answer tallies.
- Google Fonts serves the site's typefaces.
- Resend delivers contact-form messages to us. Resend's privacy policy describes how it processes email data.
- Google Gmail hosts Venny's contact inbox and messages we receive.
Each handles this information under its own privacy policy. We don't use technical connection information to identify players.
What we don't do
We don't sell your personal information, share it for advertising, show ads, use tracking cookies, or build profiles of players. Contact messages are processed by the service providers described above to deliver and handle your message.
Children
Venny is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
How long we keep data
Anonymous answer tallies are kept so past puzzles can show their results. Service provider logs are kept according to those providers' standard retention periods.
Contact messages remain in our inbox as needed to handle feedback and follow-up. You can ask us to delete a message by contacting us. Temporary form rate-limit entries expire after ten minutes of use; they are held in server memory, not the game database.
Your choices
Because answers are stored anonymously, we usually can't connect any record to you. If you have a question or request about your data, email us and we'll help where we can.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the effective date above.
